Using a cover will help protect your cast iron chiminea a lot but you will want to re-finish your chiminea sooner or later.

What is an accenting color? Some cast iron chiminea are mulity colored. Some are just one color like flat black or green. Some cast iron chimineas are painted one color and then another contrasting color is applied over the base color. Some chimineas for example are painted black then gold is brush lightly on to the base cover giving it an antique look.
